About Minesweeper

Minesweeper is the game that shipped with Windows for twenty years, and it is pure logic. Under the grid are hidden mines. Click a square and it shows a number: how many mines touch it. From those numbers you work out which neighbours are safe and which are not, flag the mines and clear the rest. One wrong click ends the game.

The version here has the usual beginner, intermediate and expert boards, and a timer for anyone who wants to chase a fast clear.

How to Play Minesweeper

1. Pick a difficulty; beginner is a 9x9 grid with ten mines.
2. Click a square to reveal it. A number shows how many of the eight neighbours are mines.
3. Right-click to flag a square you know is a mine.
4. Reveal every safe square to win.

Controls

• Left click: reveal a square.
• Right click: place or remove a flag.
• Touch: tap to reveal, long-press to flag.

Tips and Tricks

• Start in a corner or the middle; your first click is always safe.
• A 1 touching only one hidden square means that square is a mine.
• When a number's flags equal its value, every other neighbour is safe.
• If you are truly guessing, guess on a square with the fewest mines around it.
